So the reason I first got interested in dentistry is because of my experience with my own teeth. For the good part of my younger years with teeth that I was not really happy with. I didn’t like to smile and when I was about 16 years old, went to an orthodontist, was able to get my teeth straightened, pulled a bunch of teeth to make room.
I had a lot of crowding. Teeth were just kind of going every direction. The change that occurred in my self-confidence, in being able to smile and not feeling like I had to hide my smile.
That transformation had a huge impact on me and that’s when I first started becoming interested in dentistry. So for me the most rewarding parts of dentistry would be being able to help someone who is in pain, get them out of pain. Secondly, would be helping someone who is unhappy with their smile and helping them to improve their smile, improve their self-confidence.
You know, being able to to smile confidently around friends and family. I do not like to push or sell any kind of dental procedures on anybody. I see myself as a patient advocate and that is to lay out all the choices, the pros and cons, make a recommendation, help the patient understand what possible trade-offs there are.
But ultimately it’s their mouth and they have to decide what’s best for their mouth. Own whatever those decisions and trade-offs are but try to help them come to the best place for their own dental health.

Dr. Adam Fulton’s path to dentistry began with a personal transformation. After years of concealing his smile, undergoing orthodontic treatment didn’t just straighten his teeth – it fundamentally changed his confidence. That experience inspired his career choice. This time I made a desperate call on 3/23/26. A 24-year old cap on my front tooth came undone, and I was hoping for a quick repair. It may have loosened from general anesthesia during a very recent surgery. Dr. Newman saw me the same day and did an outstanding job. Prior to my arrival, he spent a lot of time researching my dental file, contacted my recent surgeon since procedures should be delayed especially for knee replacement, and obtained approval to perform the procedure. Dr. Newman’s background in infectious disease and immunology may have impressed my surgeon!

The tooth extraction went very well. The dentist provided a pain free experience. However when I called the week before and explained to the secretary it was an emergency, I had an abcessed tooth, had no medicine or antibiotic and could I speak to the dentist or get a call back, she did not pass on the message. I had to go to a walk in clinic and wait with the place filled with very sick people to get an antibiotic. My normally low blood pressure was 147 over whatever. The dentist said she would have called back. Other than that it is always a pleasant place.
