There’s a variety of reasons. I mean, basically, I’m dental shy, so I don’t like going to the dentist. About 12 years ago, we moved to Chambersburg and we were looking for a dentist and Dr. Fulton was recommended.
He did a lot of work that probably needed to be done, but nobody ever told me that it needed to be done. So I sort of put a lot of trust in him and he returned the trust. So to me, that was a bond.
12 years later, I’m still going to the same dentist. I have the same dental hygienist, Rita, and I have no complaints. The whole practice basically does their job very professionally.
And they’re very friendly and they tell you what needs to be done. They don’t over-amplify the information. You form a bond with the person or people that you’re dealing with.
After 12 years and you keep coming back, you know, you must be satisfied or else you’d go someplace else. So I guess it’s because I’m satisfied.

But Guilford Hills Dental, I work with Dr. Newman and he done four crowns for me. I feel done an excellent job. There was no pain, no discomfort.
I had a novocaine obviously, but I was very impressed with his skill putting on crowns. The staff is always when I come in, they opened a sliding glass and take my name and I no more than sit down and they’re taking me back. They’ve been very helpful with my billing.
Quality of care has been, I feel, very high level because they could really work with me and not condemn me if I didn’t floss all the time. And they helped me with the flossing and with the picks to use. And I really feel they care about my teeth.
I would highly recommend it. I’ve told a lot of people about it. It’s hard for them to leave their old dentist.
I’ve been impressed enough. I’ve never told anybody about a dentist before, but I’ve told lots of people about the care and the manner that they work at Guilford Hill Dental Care.

I love coming here because Dr. Fulton makes me feel at ease. The dentists can be scary and everyone here just makes you feel like family. I’ve been to practices that are very high anxiety in the room, very pushy, they don’t take their time and here it’s it’s a walk in the park.
I see Dr. Fulton and he is super outgoing, he makes you feel at home, he’s very open and just a really good all-around doctor. The quality is a 10 out of 10, very top-notch, it’s very professional in here. The practice has helped my smile, it’s helped my confidence.
I finally am more comfortable in my smile and I actually have results that I want compared to where I’ve been before where nobody actually listened to me. So I finally am able to walk out of here a lot happier.

My wife actually started here about 11 years ago. I’ve seen Dr. Fulton, Dr. Sargent. They are very compassionate dentists.
They will explain everything to you very fundamentally. So if you have questions, they’ll stop, they’ll explain to you, make you truly understand. They’ve also identified a lot of things that past practices just haven’t.
I am a terrible grinder of my teeth, and they have let me know it. They’ve also set me on the path to make it correct. My jaw, all the headaches I’ve had, so much better in the past two years.
40-some years old, and they’ve never told me anywhere else until I came here. So it’s been a life-altering change. This office definitely has a very tight-knit team.
So whether I’m talking to the front receptionist, Cheryl, or any of the other girls, they know you by name, everyone greets you, welcomes you, and it doesn’t matter if you’re seeing Dr. Fulton, Dr. Newman, Dr. Sargent. It’s like you’re seeing the same dentist. Everything’s very welcoming, from the time you walk in the door, the receptionist, the smiles at the receptionist, even the ambiance, the colors.
They have music playing in the background that’s not the elevator music. It’s actually something that’s relevant and up-to-date. They’re very casual.
Even when the dentist is walking down the hall, they say hi to you, even though they’re going to another patient. But what sets one dentist office apart from the other is also the equipment. This office in particular usually always has newer equipment, or they’re constantly looking for what is newer and how does it apply to the practice.

Before, I had a gap in the center of my teeth and then I actually have baby teeth that are still there that created space that just was never going to close and even if we tried to close them it was going to ruin everything else. I’ve had surgery to remove like ligaments that were in between my teeth to think if they would move and they never worked and finally we just thought let’s add to them and make it fit and it fits. So we did composite bonding and it turned out really really good.
It finally gave me the end results that I wanted and it was a lot quicker process.

I love how friendly and kind everyone is. I had a lot of dental anxiety before coming here and everybody is very sympathetic to that and I just, I like how friendly and kind everyone is. I see Dr. Sargent.
She’s very calm and assertive. She’s very, which as someone with dental anxiety, I appreciate. She is very good about explaining what’s happening in your mouth.
She’s very good at explaining what she will be doing to help you. She seems like a really nice person in general, but then she’s your dentist and she seems to really care about you as a person. I have TMJD and none of the other practices around in Franklin County that I know about help people who have problems with TMJD, so that was my main reason for coming to this practice to get help with that.
If someone’s looking for a new dentist, I would definitely recommend that they come to Guilford Hills. It’s the best dental office I’ve been to. My dental anxiety is much, much reduced and my TMJ symptoms are so much better than they were before.

I grind my teeth a lot, so over the years I’ve broken teeth, so I’ve had to have extractions, root canals. I always pick on them saying I’m one of the hardest patients you’ll ever have because I always have problems, but currently I’m getting a full reconstruction, all new crowns, all my teeth, because again, I’ve chewed them down to nothing. So they are miracle workers.
They take care of everything I’ve had ailments with. So some of the things they’ve referred me to other specialists, whether it be an orthodontist or actually an endodontist. I’ve had to have something in my jaw actually removed, which was impacting my speech.
I actually had sleep apnea. They diagnosed that, went to the endodontist, took care of my sleep apnea, the way I, the chew, grinding my teeth. My muscles are super sore all the time.
Headaches I wear through night guards. They’ve addressed the fundamental things wrong with my jaw so that I don’t grind my teeth anymore. And same time they’re helping me create an actual smile.
That’s pretty versus me hiding my smile all the time, which I’m rarely ever a smiler, but now I am. So oftentimes when I ate, I would favor one side of my jaw due to my teeth hurting. So by grinding my teeth and having a very funky jaw chew, I’d always favor one side of the other because if I bite too hard, I’d have pain that would shoot up my jaw, my mouth.
It often made chewing things a lot more difficult. Even if I was chewing like a piece of meat, my teeth were so worn down, I couldn’t chew it up like easily. It’s like chewing on a piece of gum.
Everything has been much better. Sleeping, I chew on ice, which I shouldn’t. And they’ve broken me of that a little bit, but in general, I can actually do normal things with no discomfort.
A lot of things that they’ve helped me with, I mean, they call them the basics, but for me, it’s the unknown of how bad my mouth actually was. It’s having the correct set of eyes tell me, oh, these simple things are all out of whack. If I’m not having my mouth open speaking, I might have my mouth closed.
I’m actually grinding or clenching unknowingly. So it’s not only what I’m aware of, it’s all the other unconscious things I have no idea about. And they’re like, you’re doing it right now.
Just relax. So it’s what you don’t know that they really help you understand.

So prior to treatment for my TMJD, I had a lot of jaw pain, facial pain, tiredness. I had neck pain and shoulder pain and pretty much any TMJD symptom I had to some degree that I would experience every day. Since receiving treatment, my symptoms have decreased dramatically and I would say my overall quality of life has improved due to treatment.
Dr. Sargent took models of my mouth. She was able to then show me on the models at a next appointment how my jaw is actually moving and why I’m having the pain that I’m having. She was able to also show me that by wearing my orthotic that my jaw would then become more relaxed and I would have the tension that I hold in my jaw muscles.
It would help them to relax and to release and reduce symptoms. With my orthotic, I now have very little to no symptoms on a daily basis. I think it’s totally worth it if you’re having having TMJ symptoms to come here and see if you’re a good candidate for an orthotic.
