When I was younger, I wanted to go into something with the sciences, but I wasn’t really sure. My community had a dentist that I was a patient in their practice, and he loved his job. He loved everything about his work, so I spent a summer working in his practice, and I loved it.
I fell in love with it. His patients loved him, and he loved his patients, so it made me want to do dentistry, so that’s how I got here. So the most rewarding part for me in dentistry is patient care, so I love the opportunity to be able to help a patient to move through whatever fears or anxieties they have, and be happy about their smile at the end, the way their teeth look, and more importantly, the way they feel about the work that’s been done to them, that they’ve received ultimate care, and they feel as if this is a second home for them when it comes to taking care of their health, so that for me is the icing on the cake.

With a career that’s taken her from the beaches of Hawaii to the coasts of Virginia, and through Maryland, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, Dr. Laurie Sargent has picked up a wealth of dental expertise along the way. Her approach to dentistry combines top-notch care with genuine compassion. She’s passionate about creating beautiful, healthy smiles while making sure her patients feel comfortable every step of the way.
Always eager to learn something new, she works closely with each patient to help them achieve the healthy, confident smile they’re looking for. When she’s not in the office, you might find Dr. Sargent tickling the piano keys, watching a movie, catching a show at the theater, or exploring charming small towns. (She also loves a tropical beach!) She shares her home with two Shih Tzus and loves spending time with her two sons and daughter-in-law.

BEST DENTIST EVER! I had a dental emergency and after calling 6 other “emergency dentists” who completely disregarded me and were quite rude, they immediately got me in. They explained everything with no judgment and made sure I had the help I needed immediately. I found out at 19 that I’ve needed braces badly for who knows how long, and without them I would’ve continued dealing with pain and other symptoms without even knowing. All of the support staff are friendly, efficient, and can get you in on time and out the door. This is the practice for you and your family! Updated, seen 5/24 and again care was great. New update. This time I made a desperate call on 3/23/26. A 24-year old cap on my front tooth came undone, and I was hoping for a quick repair. It may have loosened from general anesthesia during a very recent surgery. Dr. Newman saw me the same day and did an outstanding job. Prior to my arrival, he spent a lot of time researching my dental file, contacted my recent surgeon since procedures should be delayed especially for knee replacement, and obtained approval to perform the procedure. Dr. Newman’s background in infectious disease and immunology may have impressed my surgeon!

The tooth extraction went very well. The dentist provided a pain free experience. However when I called the week before and explained to the secretary it was an emergency, I had an abcessed tooth, had no medicine or antibiotic and could I speak to the dentist or get a call back, she did not pass on the message. I had to go to a walk in clinic and wait with the place filled with very sick people to get an antibiotic. My normally low blood pressure was 147 over whatever. The dentist said she would have called back. Other than that it is always a pleasant place.
